Women (on average) want a man who is superior to them...All that "independent" stuff is just a front...
I have been reading 10's of POF profiles, and one common theme that emerges is that most women want a dude who is at least 3 inches taller than them...
Basically so they (the women) can feel that their man is big and powerful compared to them...
I beginning to believe that women already understand that men are the superior sex, and that's why they want men who are taller than them, as a physical representation of what they already believe...
Whether this is due to social brainwashing through years of social submission to men or it's just a natural process, I am not sure...
