Journalists should be more careful about blurring personal and professional lines is all I will say there. They wonder why athletes get mad when they write something negative, yet they've been trying for a year to be good friends with them. People like Stephen A. Smith, Michael Wilbon, etc... are known to basically promise no negative coverage of athletes if they can hang with them.
