Mayvenn - Empowering Retail in the African American Hair Salon
^^ Wow. Apparently they see some potential in black hair care

They currently have 100K invested already and their looking for more funding.

Product
African American Hair Care Products is a $9billion a year market where the consumers spend 3 times more than any other demographic, yet 95% of African American hair salons do not have a retail component to their business. Products are currently purchased at local beauty supply stores.

Mayvenn empowers stylists and salons to retail products without them having to purchase or manage any inventory. We are creating a direct sales distribution channel based on the existing stylist/customer relationship, lower prices, and better experience.

Stylists using Mayvenn are increasing their revenue per client by 42%.

Don't really understand the business but it sounds like their selling weaves using ecommerce but using black stylists as the salespeople/consultants (the Mavens).

Not gonna lie this makes me sick. Everybody else sees the potential in getting rich off our communities but us. This is not a corner store venture this is a serious attempt at a 8 or 9 figure payday for the nonblack founders. Granted, there is some potential for black hair stylists to make extra money too.,,,but fukk that.

This is motivation tho. Time to make some moves...

I am less interested in the the fact that people are putting in weaves than the fact that these investors are seeing business opportunities in our communities that black folks are not seeing.
where the fukk have you been then? black people are straight up food for other races. we make everyone else rich and wealthy but ourselves. asians, indians, arabs, cacs, jews. nothing is surprising to me anymore in regards to us funneling money out the community. there's quiet a few wholesale chinese that have a particular section just for black women haircare.

i jumped on this earlier this year..I have been wholesaling hair and the chinese have helped me out because there are so many companies that get the brazilian remy, malaysian, and indian hair and package them at great prices.. I have been eating off of them...woman but a bundle which is 100kg for $80-100 like hotcakes..after watching Chris Rocks "Good Hair" I saw the potential on how african american women spend...not just in the United States but worldwide.

Yeah theres nothing new about it really. But this is interesting because its a specific business with a specific plan to take advantage of opportunities that black folks are leaving open. We are seeing it in real time.

My cousin owns a line of hair products. I'm going to research this and bite their idea if I can. fukk that...
