As much as people hate award shows, I think they play a really essential part.

Most of the movies that get nominated for these awards aren’t big blockbusters that break records and do huge numbers right?

A lot, or atleast a good amount of them are little films that got a limited release.


Now take away the awards, what’s the incentive to make these movies anymore?


They don’t really make money like that, and without awards they’d just be there


You can say “they should do it for the art”, but if they’re not making money and they’re not getting any recognition why the fukk should they care?


It being “for the art” sounds nice, but zero recognition and zero money is a recipe for suicide tbh

i don't mind awards, ill actually check out a film nominated for a oscar.

I would have never seen the king's speech if it was not nominated for all those awards and I loved the film.
