Most of the movies that get nominated for these awards aren’t big blockbusters that break records and do huge numbers right?
A lot, or atleast a good amount of them are little films that got a limited release.
Now take away the awards, what’s the incentive to make these movies anymore?
They don’t really make money like that, and without awards they’d just be there
You can say “they should do it for the art”, but if they’re not making money and they’re not getting any recognition why the fukk should they care?
It being “for the art” sounds nice, but zero recognition and zero money is a recipe for suicide tbh
