This is a spinoff of my Arcadium thread asking if heads are really enjoying video games. I'm wondering if yall really "enjoy wrestling?" Sometimes I can't tell due to the smoke and explosions thats been going on in this piece for the course of months. We are in a "boom" period, but do you really feel the excitement like the golden era of wrestling?

Do you hate watch and if so...why? Whats the enjoyment of that besides causing mental health issues and unneeded frustration. If your favorite brand is "GOATed", why the need ot smear campaigns and malice, rather than a sports brand team type of display of competition?

For myself, I find myself appreciating wrestling on a casual side of affairs. When I was deep into the shyt, I found myself being lost in the sauce, angry, and frustrated over the play sports, rather than seeing the storylines unfold. Once I realize that I'm getting older and the industry is not the same as I grew up to love, I started to fall back and just watch occasionally. Seeing my own son being a hard body die hard to the point, he started having admiration and living through the wrestlers was the moment I got my wake up call.

My wife and I had to let him know the grim history of wrestling that's still to this very day. We all realized that we weren't fully enjoying wrestling, thus treating it like a glimpse than every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and big events. Shoot, the last time my wife appreciated wrestling was in 2014 with the Shield and Wyatts feud.

So how about yall? Do all....

I would say yes as a form of entertainment. I usually tend to be consistent with watching all 6 shows whether live or replay. Sometimes as background noise to keep me informed on what's happening. I enjoy the laughs & sharing of thoughts with others, yet the stan wars thing can be a drag. Mostly on twitter that it gets annoying, especially with the major accounts popping up constantly.

There are things i enjoy and things i don't care for. I do appreciate it more on a casual side as well these days. Of course that's difference between being a kid and an adult. Industry as a whole has changed since watching a a kid during attitude era to now. Even getting back into it during summer of 2011 to now there has been a lot of change. Industry constantly evolving. We more connected to the wrestlers and can appreciate what they do more. Of course that leads to more crazier fans but they always have existed.

Wrestling fills a viewing gap but isn't something to stress over. I mean if we didn't have it i would prolly watch live sports instead like basketball and hockey or even baseball. Only difference is wrestling isn't the same episode every week, while in those sports you getting the same game and rules each time so not much changes except for the players.

Wrestling is enjoyable for what it is, some decent entertainment that we can discuss and laugh and enjoy. It's the ones who make it interesting that make it entertaining.

Definitely.

My girl went from having a passing interest to becoming a devoted sicko over the last few years and watching with her reignited my love for it all and took away a lot of my inner cynic.

The indie scene in the UK is healthier than it's been for ages and she's got enough love for it all that she buys us tickets to all sorts of shyt... watched more live wrestling since the start of 2022 than I have in the rest of my life.

I love watching wwe again. I don’t take things as serious anymore. I’m not going to say it’s because I’m grown since they’re are so many grown ass weirdos who take this too seriously; my life just too busy with responsibilities

I don’t hate watch watch anything. I hate on AEW through clips and reports and what not…. And it’s fun.

If they actually got their shyt together I’d be down to check it out more often.

Hate watch tho naw? I used to do that with wwe and looking back on it I should have just stopped watching. 3 hours of Monday night raw being shytty could have been time applied to something productive

Yeah, My only real complaints are that I wish AEW utilized their full roster better and that HHH didn’t slow walk so much shyt.

NXT has been fire and did a great job building up Ethan Page into a #1 heel they were sorely lacking before.

Main roster WWE tag division could be better as well.

am I enjoying wrestling? :jbhmm:

Depends on the perspective in which I'm asked to view it.

as one of the only forms of theatre not tossed in the bushes by America as a whole?
it's aight, for lack of anything better.

as a single-take action show featuring a cast of varied characters?
eh... the moves get more spectacular, while meaning less and less every time they're performed. Not sustainable; but also not my problem.

as escapism from the doldrums of daily life?
I smoke and have mastered dissociation. I'm only ever 55% present as a human.

as a medium for extended storytelling built on the abstraction of conflict as a means of telling a directed story about triumph and failure?
well... we're not asked as an audience to have the memory of a goldfish anymore. Long-term booking returns. But I smoke too much for that, so... boooooooo.

as pure, unmitigated fukkery seasoned liberally with shadenfreude?

Most definitely, it helps that I like a wide variety of athletes. Even if 2 or 3 get rotated out, someone I enjoy is in a prominent spot somewhere and with actual alternative spots, that will never change.

Here's to hoping AJ & Nak get a World title in the coming years before they close up shop. :blessed:
