I was thinking about this yesterday.

Aren't colors just a reflection of light against an object. Our eyes then filter the light to make the specific color. Animals are able to see colors we can't see and others see no color.

If we removed light from the world then colors wouldn't exist right? Or if our eyes didn't have what ever it is that filters the light then colors would never exist right? If you wanted to get crazy with it, If color didn't exist would racism still exist?

Color or colour (see spelling differences) is the visual perceptual property corresponding in humans to the categories called red, green, blue, and others. Color derives from the spectrum of light (distribution of light power versus wavelength) interacting in the eye with the spectral sensitivities of the light receptors

Thats the wikipedia definition. Are colors real? :ohhh:

best way to explain this is with a link:

Color and Reality | gmilburn.ca

Damn your just going to shut my thread down like that

Is Color Real?

So is color real? Well, photons with specific wavelengths seem to correspond to specific colors. But the interior of the CIE 1931 color space is a representation of the a most ridiculously abstract concept, labels that aren’t even labels, something our brain experiences and calculates from averaged photon wavelengths. It is an example of what philosophers call qualia – a subjective quality of consciousness.

I later learned that my childhood argument was a version of the inverted spectrum argument first proposed by John Locke, and that the “adult” perspective of everyone seeing the same colors (and it not really mattering if they didn’t) was argued by the philosopher Daniel Dennett.

I have come no closer to resolving my question from long ago of “individual spectrums” – but for the future, I vow to pay more attention to the idle questions of children.

I think about this all the time!! I don't think they "exist" absolutely, but as humanoids that's the only way we can see things so that's reality for ya... I wonder what "color" everything is in its natural state?

I also wonder if there are wavelengths that the human eye can't physiologically see. I mean obviously, microwaves, UV rays and all that shyt are out there, but what if there's some crazy shyt walking around that we can't even perceive? Like when dogs bark at thin air. Scary!!

Thats the shyt I'm talking about. Or what if some color exist that our eyes just can't see so that color never gets seen by our brains :merchant:

Never thought about this. But it kinda makes sense.

But really, whatever is, is.

Just because we see a tree as green wouldnt make it not green even if we saw it as red.

Although the fact that blood is actually blue boggles my mind.

blood ain't blue.
when a person blushes, their cheeks turn red because blood is rushing to the surface. you can see red veins in the eye.

They show blood as blue in books sometimes just to emphasize that it is deoxygenated. Hemoglobin gives blood it's red color I believe.

"Physical reality" is the ultimate smoke & mirrors trick.

Once you start thinking about how the brain works and breaking shyt down at a atomic/molecular level, it's total mind fukk.

We really are on some Matrix shyt.
