I trying to gain like 30 pounds and that shyt is hard as hell :why:

It's already hard enough increasing my calorie intake. I'm trying to do like 3k calories a day. I got 2 jugs of protein jugs from GNC, so that should help me out.

I run and play basketball for my cardio. I just got cleared for activity after almost a year because I broke my foot and had to have surgery. So I really have to do some activity on my foot for rehab and to get it back to full strength.

My regular doctor told me I should stop running and playing ball if I want to gain weight because my metabolism is too high:dwillhuh:

She said that I'm just burning off too many calories.

So my question is, is there a way I can decrease my metabolism? I'm not trying to be an inactive muthafukka:flabbynsick:

I had to cut my cardio to once a week to gain weight. Unless you can afford to eat 4-5k calories on your active days. :pachaha:

If 3k calories isn't working, bump it up to 3500, and if that doesn't work 4000 calories. My maintenance is around the amount of calories you're using to bulk with, and my metabolism isn't even remotely fast.

Thanks for the advice, but 3500 or 4000 calories isn't s easy as it sounds for some people, especially me. But if that's what I have to do.....

I guess a better question is, what are some tips for increasing my appetite?

I guess its not too many people with this problem:aicmon:

I had the same problem when I was trying to gain weight, but I didn't deal with it by trying to decrease my metabolism. I gained weight (150 to 180 in 6 months) by working out and increasing my muscle mass.

I found this though: 3 Ways to Decrease Your Metabolism - wikiHow

says to take naps and skip meals :leon:

I took B12 with my meals for a couple weeks to increase my appetite when I was in college. I stopped because I was always hungry and started running out of meals on my mean plan. Plus there was a short window of time after taking it where I could get a good workout in and actually have energy.

Forgive me for my ignorance, but, I can gain weight by lifting weights?

I just started a lifting regimen, so I lift weights 3 times a week. Should I increase it? I can feel myself getting stronger, but it's not translating to the scale.

But this B-12:whoo: I'm going to GNC tomorrow to cop some of this shyt

Muscle is like 3x denser than fat, so even if you're burning fat when you're lifting, you'll probably see a net gain. When I started lifting I would drink a shake with 40g of protein 30 min before and after workouts to aid in muscle development. Now, I mostly just eat some peanut butter.

As far as the B12, I can't wholly endorse it given my experience, but I didn't know what I was doing then. It does increase your metabolism, but it will substantially increase your appetite and should help with weightlifting performance so it might be a net positive :manny:

It sounds like you eat a lot of protein, and simple carbohydrate foods. That keeps your metabolism too fast.

Eat more complex carbohydrates like beans, and rice(together). Also, more foods high in fat, and protein like cheese, nuts/seeds. If you don't gain weight from that, I don't know what's going on.
