Honestly, it's a very brave and risque film to be made in contemporary times.
Check out this dudes version in the comment section of this video.
"Chris, thanks for the review, but you've left one detail unexplained, which in fact goes into serious contraversion with what you've told. If the blonde girl is his real pregnant wife - why do we see ANOTHER woman on a photo? (the photo that was torn in the first half of the movie) This detail leads me to another version: the entire film is Jake's fantasy. The real story was like this: he was a teacher, trying to get a movie star carrier. He had a pregnant wife and fear of family (here is where I agree with your version). His real wife was that brunette woman seen in the torn photo at the end of the movie. He was cheating on her and they constantly were having argues. One of them, happened to start in a car, lead to a car accident, where Jake's wife died and he himself got this scar on his ribs. Depressed and lost, he quits trying to get a nice part in a movie and moves back to his teaching, where some of his collegues mock him ('Do you like movies?'). He moves to a new apartment after the car crash, which his mother doesn't like (rememer the 1st scene). He has his life for 6 months (as the guard in the movie studio says) - this is how he managed to life as a teacher Jake. All that follows is just an illusion, where his second identity appears, the one that managed to achieve what real Jake could not - he is a well-payed actor with a beautifull wife. The rest of the film is this illusion getting in a fight with the reality.
To sum up - in your version Jake is still married, his wife is still alive and asks him to stay away from cheating and stay with her, but he can't handle his desires.
My version differs in one detail - you version is correct but it's Jake's past. In the present, his wife is dead in a car accident, he returned back to school, but the desire to have this beautifull life is still teasing him, which combined with shock after the accident leads to his mental disorder and creates the alternate actor Jake".
