I need help, and a lot of it :sadcam:

I'm a recent graduate from college for Television Broadcasting (finished an internship the end of December) and shyt is stressful out here man. It's like they tell you to network your heart out but it feels like all I'm getting to is dead ends and higher occupation people that will give no reply when I email them (and yes I am very persistent). Plus the whole apply online shyt, and handing resumes to companies doesn't really make a push.

I also am thinking about possibly going back to school as a transfer into University for my field around television or journalism but I'm still lost on if that will help or burn a hole in my pocket.

Try to get on with a production company in your city. They are always hiring and looking for extra help.

If you talking about being a on air talent position. Then yeah that is going to be hard to find an opening.

There's always the casting couch :shaq: All jokes aside, you in Toronto right now? I can't help you there. All I can tell you is that your resume is everything. I did part of the set for the Hulk Hogan show in MIA (no such thing as reality TV ) for kicks. I probably could have stayed on, but the f*ck I look like playin' stepnfetchit for CACs? :skip: You got be a part of a hit show, you gotta have a track record. Because usually the DIRECTORS of a successful show will have more, and they will want to keep the same crew.

So do you want to be in front of the camera or behind it? Do you have a camera friendly face (sorry breh, that's reality :manny: )? Are you ethnic? Sometimes you can get a gig because you're of the same cultural background as the program. Give us some more details, and maybe someone on the board can hook it up, if not in Toronto, then probably one of the major US cities.

I have friends in the industry worked on (Detroit 187) didn't last long but they got a foot in the industry. But the best advice I have ever heard from them is get up and move to California. That's the best advice I can give, good luck.

Lol nah not in front of camera working behind. My main interest is to work for a TV station as a producer (MTV, CTV, TSN Sportscenter etc.) Which is also what The area I did my internship for. Yeah I'm black as well but I don't think that's something that effects my chances positive or negative.

I recently took up a production assistant gig in Toronto for a few days with this production company shooting a singing competition tv show for a kids network. It's an opportunity to network and grow but like I said its most likely stepnfetch for Cacs :snoop:

You want to produce a show? Why not do something on youtube? Why would anybody give you a producer position? Because of a piece of paper saying you passed a few classed? :heh: Welcome to the real world buddy. If you're not the casting couch type, you're going to have to prove yourself. If you want to stay in Toronto, can't help you. If you're down to go to MIA or LA, PM a nikka your resume. But I don't see how you would do any better if you have no drive. Do you have any work I could show somebody? Perhaps a piece you produced in college?

If you want to be in tv, apply to stations in the boonies...build your resume...then in 2-3 years go for the majors. Getting to a big market right off the bat when you didnt go to school in a big market and make those connections is damn near impossible.
