Anyone Surprised WWE Has Kept The Roster Intact During This Budget Cut?

In the past whenever, WWE had a budget cut they would slash about 10 to 15 wrestlers in one day, which TSC affectionately calls "deavors season." At the moment, we're in a budget that has seen WWE Network shows get slashed, pyro get slashed and even bringing purple ropes to Monday nights.

I'm usually critical of WWE's front office but I have to say I'm impressed that they gone all in on the talent, considering that's who makes the company grow. In fact since the budget cuts started, they've signed Adam Cole, ReDragon, and they had to pay about 20 girls that aren't contracted to wrestle at the Mae Young Classic. Also I know one guy playing a August 2017 mod of Total Extreme Wrestling who said they have about 200 people under contract at this moment.

With all of that in mind is anyone else surprised that we haven't had deavors season yet despite these budget cuts?

There is a difference between cutting costs and "budget cuts"

Purple ropes, pyro, etc. were probably all not worth it in the larger "cost/benefit" analysis. The return on spending 300K a year on pyro just isn't worth the investment.

Same with shows. If they are spending money on crew and paying talent, etc. but aren't getting the advertisers to fund the shows, they aren't financially feasible.

But if there was an issue with the budget (ie: they weren't expected to hit certain financial numbers) the easiest way to tip the scales is to cut talent. If someone is making 200K a year, you've just cut your budget about 4K a week by not paying that person.

So like @dh86 said it probably wasn't very serious :yeshrug:

The problem was that they only made 5 million in profit in the last quarter which was below what they told shareholders it would be.

They can't afford to cut anyone right now, that's why if someone does get released it's usually a PC guy who has nothing going for them.
