AMAZING FILM...truly breathtaking. If you've read the novel, you'll appreciate how faithful the movie is to hitting all the highlights of the novel. Which is impressive because it is over a 1000 pages. The novel has alot of story lines, and the movie does an excellent job of retelling them faithfully. Easily the best rendition of Les Miserables yet.

Holla at tRK for a link to this piff.

It COULD have been a great film, and it has many great moments....but Tom Hooper's look-at-me camera movement/placement became tiresome about midway through the film. And seriously...Russell Crowe is relentlessly terrible. From the first note he sings to the noise his body makes when it slams into the river wall, his performance is one of the worst things in movies this year.

Yeah, i agree that Russel did an absolutely horrible job here. He probably agreed to the script before realizing it was a musical or something because the guy can't sing worth shyt. Its funny too because its actually very smart to make this a musical as opposed to a normal movie. Namely because through song they are able to condense alot of the backstory in a few verses. It really helps the movie flow and maintain the detail from the novel.
