I'm reading it now, its interesting. The beginning of the book caught me when he talks about his grandfather and how his grandfather tells him to just "yessir" and "no sir" white people until you can get into the right position.

Made me think about how I operate in life. Right now I'm at the scene where he gets Mr. Norton out of the Golden Day after the Dr. Clowns the both of them. That part made me question the white people around me as well.

Its a really interesting books.

Hmm interesting 10th grade huh. What did you get out of it

I got it in my c active writing class . never returned it to the teacher even though I promised to :mjcry:. Damn I feel bad now. I remember being intrudced to different political parties and relating to why he considered himself invisible. Growing up I read a lot and wrote a lot. I also did public speaking. My middle school was mostly black. The black students entered a speech competition. I remember all of the white kids laughing at the black kids and calling us dirty monkeys, and etc. The book covered a lot of what black people go through academically and socially. Although it took place in the 1920's to 1930's a lot if the stuff still happens today. Many black people like to call the blacks ho are up their academically and in prestigious environments c00ns and ass kissers for whites but fail to realize that any black person up there deals with a lot.
