Intel's pain could be AMD's gain
The fact that Krzanich is talking about trying to prevent losing 15-20% data center processor share to AMD tells me that Intel does, in fact, see AMD as a pretty serious threat to its lucrative data center business.

The reason that this could put off investors is that Intel has been quite public about how it expects its data center group -- its second-largest business today in terms of revenue and profits -- to be its main growth engine for years to come.

Going from virtually 100% market segment share to making it the company's mission "not to let AMD capture 15-20% market share" doesn't inspire a ton of confidence in Intel's outlook for its position in the data center processor market.

For some context, Intel's data center processor business raked in $17.44 billion in 2017 (Intel's total data center revenue, which came in at $19.06 billion that year, included non-processor products). If AMD were to capture between 15% and 20% of that revenue, it could rake in between $2.62 and $3.49 billion in annual data center processor revenue -- and those figures could grow as the market expands

According to my M1 Finance portfolio, I own 7.5 (this is not hundreds or thousands) shares in AMD and I own 7.0 shares in Intel. Obviously, this is not a lot. I hope to add more shares in AMD when I get a chance because it's still relatively low price-wise.

Intel is struggling recently, but wasn't there talk that they're going to be having some technological displays during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics? That's the only reason that I invested in them in the first place.

The deal they made with China, The deals they made with other big companies to use their chips in their data centers, they just released a chip thats making companies choose them, or intel and are already making the 2nd gen chip for that one.

Theres some other stuff too that I cant remember right now.

Why do you agree?

Dr Su :salute:

I've been a part of AMD stock for quite some time now. The stuff they are doing in datacenters with epyc launch is nothing short of amazing and they are meeting all markets for all levels of consumers.
