I think there's already a thread but I don't feel like necro posting.

Anyway I've been suffering from them lately and the shyt is horrible. Your mind is programmed to think you're suffering a heart attack (though you're not getting the crushing pain that usually comes with a real one) and of course that causes more anxiety creating a positive feedback loop.

But that feeling of euphoria and relief when it passes is :ohlawd:

What are your coping techniques? I usually sit on the toilet because I get an upset stomach and I feel I'm "in control" there. Also walking around helps. Talking to people while I'm having one just makes me nauseous. Being around people in general makes it worse.

I need that Xanax in my life. :noah:

But thanks to junkies and bums I can't get a prescription. :stopitslime:

This is the coli so everyone is Debo don't ever have problems. But I did for the longest time and never understood what was going on. I passed out a few times from them. Just go to a psychiatrist and you should probably see a therapist and they WILL give you something to help. Probably not xanax but at least valium or klonopin. Just don't tell them you smoke weed if you do. In fact, don't smoke for a while if you do that's when I got it the worst. Trust me, life without anxiety is like being born again.

Best of luck. If you need any other advice shoot me a PM i'm pretty well versed in this. I'd be more than happy to help you out I know how terrible it can be and I don't care what anyone says if you haven't experienced it you have NO IDEA what it's like.

As far as techniques: Lay down on your back, take deep breathes from your diaphragm (make sure your stomache is rising) for five seconds, hold it in for five, and breathe out for five. Do this for five or ten minutes. This can help a whole lot but without help you'll be suffering breh. I couldn't smoke...even drink coffee...for like two years.

In fact I don't wanna air my business on the coli so if you wanna talk (pause) further pm me i'm not gunna talk about it here.

I see a psych and a therapist for depression. The anxiety is a relapse from childhood that was never diagnosed. For like a year when I was about nine or ten I would get panic attacks before or during haircuts.

I've brought up my anxiety and my doc gave me some Lamictol :scusthov: I just started taking it so we'll see what happens. Thanks for your input and support breh.

I had one for the first time in my life a few weeks ago. I was driving home from work and it just came out of nowhere, I literally had to pull over to the side of the road for like 10 minutes. Eventually made it home and went and laid in my bed with my eyes closed for a while. shyt was wierd.

I don't really have a problem in that area. But the issues I'm having now are kind of new so who knows what'll happen in the long run. Though an anxiety attack was the cause of a near tragic doo doo tale on a date so it's not looking too good.

Just a general doctor? Yeah they won't prescribe benzos you have to see a psychiatrist. Reg doctors are very reluctant to give out benzo scripts for various reasons like you said junkies and also because they don't specialize in it. If you're an adult and tell a psychiatrist what you said here they will give you something that helps. What your doc gave you isn't even used to treat anxiety lol. I'm actually in my second year for a psych degree with a lot of knowledge in biological psychology so i mean i'm not expert by any means but like I said...my pm box is open and I hate seeing anxiety disorders go untreated or mistreated.

(free advice for getting me out of the red *cough cough*)

I have them all the time at work and occassionally in severely crowded situations. I feel like i'm suffering a heart attack/going to pass out/completely freeze. I had one so bad one time that I had my wife take me to the ER because I felt like i was having an allergic reation to an antibiotic. When I got there the doctor and nurse gave me the :what: face and told me it was anxiety. The best thing I do when this shyt happens is smoke a cigarette cause that chills me out for a
minute. I also take 25mg of Zoloft which is a low non-therapeutic dose, and that chills me out 75% of the time.

I got you. And nah it wasn't my general doctor. It was my psychiatrist. She flat out said she doesn't prescribe Xanax. Gave me that other shyt. It's a trend with these shrinks to give these meds which MAY have the necessary therapeutic properties.

Yeah, you are right about that when i was in high school they would throw everything at me BESIDES benzos. When i got to college i saw the psychiatrist on campus and the first visit i walked away with a klonopin prescription. It is tough because if you persist she'll think you just want the drugs. Have you tried suggesting it? They do take your thoughts into account. My only other suggestion is to find another psychiatrist that takes your insurance and let them now you've dealt with psychiatrists that gave you meds that didn't help and they'll piece together the rest. Usually state hospitals are the most lax with prescribing drugs.

Also: tell her you don't feel comfortable taking a medicine for bi-polarism/depression (what she gave you) for anxiety and you don't want to have the potential side effects. I dunno...most important thing is to be blatantly honest (besides drug use if you use drugs).

I know what you mean. I suffered through panic attacks a year and a half ago (oct 2010-may 2011). shyt is the worst experience ever. For me it started from an incident involving heights and just took over from there. I had it bad I mean walking around literally thinking I was going crazy, terrible dissassociation, it fukking sucked.

I just saw a psychologist /psychiatrist (both). And it I got better through a combination of weekly meetings with the psychologist and a group, pills, and independent progressive relaxation breathing techiniques. Ive had mild relapses since but nothing major and no where close to how it was. As far as pills the only ones I was out on were xanax and klonopin. IMO the klonopin didnt do anything for me, while the xanax was :ahh:.

And yea I wouldnt suggest smoking weed in fact I dont smoke weed period just because it enhances my anxiety.
