Anyone here ever used the "pay for delete" when settling debt?

I owe this company and I want to try and pay it off when I get my taxes back. I've been reading up on this pay for delete and it's pretty much a letter you write to the creditor for a promise to pay as long as they promise to delete the information once paid. I'm thinking of going head and writing them so I can get a jump on it once my taxes get here. Does it work?! Will they really be willing to erase the shyt if you decide to pay up?!

its a tough call but its possible. go to myfico.com they have pretty good advice there in 07 i had a 505 score and in 3 years it was 720

check their forums. I know this one guy who charges only when he removes something negative from your report i can pm you his info if you'd like

but try the pfd first and if it doesn't work then try the guy i referred.

i'll just put it here, i think it was like 30 or 50 dollars for each mark removed. This is stuff you can do yourself but he has experience and has all the legal verbiage and how to effectively put them in the letters he sends out. Needed to get business lines of credit and i was referred to him to remove 2 small items from my report which he did. I had over 700 credit but creditors have been strict in that area
