In the sense that you get a small but intense burst of flavor for a moment before mindlessly gnashing your gums on the rest which is nowhere near the initial hit.

Music especially seems to have suffered from this with recent tracks going from hot to not within weeks as very few in any genre seem to be honing their craft or creating true art that will stand the test of time because, surprise, thanks to the net people expect a constant drip feed of new distractions and artists have to keep their name in the feed in order to eat and so just keep on cranking em out.

Thinking on a broader picture there ain't no one in here that would pass up their grandmas cooking for a fast food burger because you know the former had time, effort and attention put into it whereas the latter was flipped quick by someone doing it for a check. Same thing with the creative field it seems as the combination of net and money has made whores of us all...

In between the way phones and notifications are rewiring peoples brains from the most basic centers up combined with the fact that a lifetime of watching jump cut laden shows and movies means that most cannot focus their mind on one thing and crave variety in order to retain whats left of their sanity and a zillion other little things that are all thrown in the mix you've got to be crazy not to see how the whole world has been placed in the trick bag and worse still most don't care as they like it in there and the most insane aspect of all of this is that these people will be the future fathers and mothers of generations to come...

Stick a fork in Earth, its done.

i mean there was a period of time when only rich monarchs and other elties had access to arts and music because the “common man” wouldn’t understand their complexity or whatever

if people actually had free will, at the very least an existence not based on how much capital that could be acquired from creative endeavors you’d see the ability for people to allow their passions to be fully nutured whether they be in the arts, academia, artistian crafted etc and not based on how many hits/likes or how much it is considered worth because of some trust fund cacs and bougie poc’s

think about how many creatives or local humanitarians have had to throw in the towel because what they cherished producing for the world couldn’t pay the bills or rent. now think about if it didn’t matter how much capital they could get from the fruits of their labor if the main goal was simply to create and rebuild for the greater good of society.

plus it would give the non-creatives a chance to actually indulge in what they were expiercing and not worry about whether or not it was “wasting time.”

but we’d rather live in a system that puts money before anything else.

combine that with the fact that most people are docile and complacent and would have no problem with just sitting there and chilling while they whole house burn down (metaphorically) like they The Simpsons

and you’ll see why shyt is looking quite dire for the next few generations :francis:

But doesnt every generation say the same thing? "Remember the good ol days?" I've heard old people say that while I was in my good ol days.

people always say this but you gotta think about the fact that never in the history of mankind has technology gotten to where it’s at today

we witnessing unprecedented levels of technological evolution and the circumstances of which have never been experience by ANYONE breh

who knows what type of long term effects will be caused by the entire population of ssentially carrying around a mini-laptop in their pocket everyday and all day, only time will tell but this shyt is way deeper than some “good ol days” type of nostalgia thing

This was a good read OP. Hella insightful and you're right. I recognized the changes to music but never noticed how broad that trendy/ADD behavior had gotten

I'm sure the baby boomer generation felt the same way when we went to the moon and when VCRS, cd players and Microwaves came out.

Also...In 500 years the people will look back on us and say we were primative compared to them, the same way we do with people who were born 500 years ago.

I remember having a convo about how things like Damascus Steel, Greek Fire, Roman Concrete and how the pyramids were built was due to technology that we dont understand. And how the people of the past probably had inventions and technology that would blow us away the same way our current inventions would blow them away.

Thats that Matrix/Terminator shyt.

I'm more worried abour The Carrington Event happening again.

Scientists say we are in for one in due time and when that happens :merchant: I'm more worried about that happening first before the Matrix/Terminator shyt happens. Hopefully I'll be dead when it does happen.
