I usually just use the straight bar to do bar curls, but every once in a while when straight bars aren't available I'm stuck with the ez bars. Now usually I don't have any problems with them (probably because I don't use em much), but recently I had to use ez bars three times in a row (three separate days) and now the middle of my right forearm hurts if I use it for anything aka tendinitis

I bought a Carbon 15 when I was 18
Yea it feels like my forearm is about to snap in half, I just stick to straightbar.

It's weird because I used to be able to use them with no problem. Eh oh well straightbar is better anyways.

You're either lifting too much or gripping the bar too tight.
Well I know its not too much weight considering I lift the same amount with a straight bar and no problems there. But I'll pay more attention to my grip next time around

forearm splints, just like shin splints track runners get.

All you can do is work through it and the pain soon gets less intense as your forearm strength grows, or strictly use a different bar.

I chose the latter:yeshrug:

I get this pain, but I think its due largely in part to how weak my forearms are. You guys have any workouts I should try to strengthen my forearms?

Sit down, hold your hand palm up so you can see it. Now, make a fist. Curl with JUST your wrist. This motion you're doing with just your fist is the same you'd do with a barbell or dumbbell.

You can use a small axle or barbell and you curl with JUST your wrists, I do 3 sets of 8-10 reps on leg day (same day I accessorize with forearms and calves).

Curling with just your wrists palms up and curling palms down will work both sides of the forearm.

Also, hammer curls are a pretty good forearm exercise. Another good forearm exercise: grab a 25-pound plate and hold it up like you're holding a steering wheel BUT keep your arms straight.

Rotate the plate in your arms like you're steering a wheel left and right in a 180 degree pattern. Do this swiftly but controlled enough so you're not wildly rocking.

One more I use: Zottman curls. Grab two light dumbbells (25-30 lbs) curl them like you would a basic bicep curl but when you complete each curl, rotate the dumbbels in your wrists so the top part of your palm is facing you, then push the weights down as if you were reverse curling with your palms facing away from you.

Sounds easy but you will feel a really intense burn in your forearms if executed properly.

All of these are solid forearm exercises. Just go real light when you do these at first because you can really fukk up your forearms if you go too heavy

thats the ez bar.

My arm day was Thursday and even though the pain was still there a bit from my last workout, it was easier to manage with the straight bar.

Yea, I get crazy splints now that I'm curling 85# (bar included). Those first couple of seconds after I put the bar down :sadbron:. thankfully it only hurts while lifting, but no pain no gain

@GreenOva415 good luck breh. You can find those exercises online as well in case my descriptions weren't clear enough

Btw with the barbell/axle exercise, make sure you do 3 sets of the palms up wrist curls and 3 sets of the palms down wrist curls. If you don't have an axle or if the barbell is too heavy at your gym, just use light dumbbells and you can execute the same movements.

Also, any heavy gripping exercise where you're pulling i.e. heavy shrugs, deadlifts, your forearms will get worked. You can even do something like farmers walks where you're just walking with heavy ass weights and as long as you're gripping hard n/h, your forearms are getting that work.

This should really help out on the proper form for bicep curls.
