Some of those old movies and OVAs (late 80's and 90's) were brutal as fukk.

Rented this shyt when I was like 8 and the most violent cartoon I had seen was the Street Fighter 2 movie

genocyber.part.1.birth.of.genocyber.vhs.s.a.JPG

As a stupid kid I had no idea that cartoons could be for adults only. Watched that shyt and was like :merchant::merchant::merchant:

I was hooked though

Vampire Hunter D, Wicked City, Peacock King OVAs, Ninja Scroll, Devilman, I could go on and on :wow:

Stopped messing with that shyt for a long time, but have recently been watching some of the old obscure ass DVDs an VHSs I've still got. Anybody else grow up with this shyt? Will post vids and more titles if this gets some replies. Whoever came up with shyt like Genocyber and Apocalypse Zero were some twisted motherfukkers :russ:

The anime section at Suncoast was called "Japanimation" and had all the VHS copies of anime, and the warning labels. I was a fraidy cat ass little kid, so the mere idea of them had me shook

I was intrigued, then a homie showed me Akira, and life ain't been the same since :ohhh:

yeah.
I grew up on that stuff. I saw fist of the north star in the 4th grade back in 92. Hokuto no ken is pretty bad-ass when you are a young boy.

my favorites in the early 90s were:

fist of the north star
Akira
ninja scroll
lodoss war
bubblegum crisis
gunbuster
Hades project zeromymer
Area 88
the guyver
orguss 1 & 2
patlabor
zeta gundam
dragon ball z
gundam war in the pocket
gundam 0083
dagger of the kamui
macross
robotech
gall force
ad police
battle angel.

I either saw them on official tapes or on fandubs from the comic book shop the street (dbz and zeta gundam ).

I doubt many people these days have seen any of these OVAs or movies, and for the most part, you have to.be a kid to enjoy these flicks especially something like the guyver or Hokuto No Ken. They are so mindlessly action packed, and make no logical sense.

I loved them thought, and hokuto no ken had a huge influence on my art style as a teenager. I was pretty good illustrator, and I wanted to draw comics. I gave up on that thought

The only ones I remember from the top of my head was "8 Man" and then my brother changed my life when he brought home "Vampire Hunter D" and "Ninja Scroll" :banderas:

My moms didn't let me rock with anything heavy with cursing or nudity but she let me rock out with someone getting cut in half. :mjlol:
