I went to my niece's recital tonight. She's been doing this kind of stuff for like 5 yrs. now (she's 10) and really enjoys it. Those programs are long but it doesn't hurt to support your fam.
Her mom (my sis) wishes the lady director would put in better groups though. There's a ton of groups of girls (a few boys mixed in) ranging from ages 4-18. My niece is already 5' and she dwarfs her partners.
The director's daughter is tiny and only like 12 yet she gets to dance with the big kids. (Gotta love that nepotism. lol) Her son is 10 and every year shows out in some way. I remember last year, they had him passing out flowers to the girls being honored. He started pulling the flowers back when the girls would try and reach for them.

I've even had my share of
moments. This one really pretty chick's 18 now so I don't feel so guilty anymore. 
There's always the fine ass sistas that show up to these things so that's always a plus.
The show surprised people when they had 3 sistas doing a routine to MLK's I Have a Dream speech. The combination of such a powerful speech and such a respectful routine made that moment...
I've also saw one of the weirdest things ever. Right before one of the routines my sister taps me on the shoulder:
Sis: I'm just letting you know there's a cross-dresser in this group. I don't want you to be alarmed.
Me:
Man, this fukker was towering over the other girls with a blonde ponytail and a 5 o'clock shadow. Like really breh?
What about the rest of y'all? I know I ain't the only one who ends up at these things. lol
