My pops had a stroke and is now paralyzed on the right side of his body.

I’m going to have to take care of him until he recovers.

Imma be off work for a few months and be his caretaker.

It’s very tiresome, but I’m managing it well.

Any of y’all had to take care of your parents?

All I know is caretaking can be exhausting you get the benefit of knowing your loved one is being taken care of be someone that really cares.
I cant lie it is hard, but my dad be having convos with family and hearing him talk about how proud he is of me for taking caring of him and making sure his insurance and shyt is good makes me feels like it’s worth it.

Yup

It’s not easy. I’d never dump my parents in a home having under paid staff and burnt out doctors prescribing meds to make patients sleep all day.

It was hard but if I’d have to do it all over again, I would. Family over everything.

I have 2 other siblings, so they do more care taking. My mom had a stroke too. Can barely move/use her right arm. It’s been about a year and a half since… she’s recovered a little bit… she could barely walk and stand when it first happened. Gradually moved to a walker…now uses a cane. idk about your dad, but the tough thing is that my mom doesn’t have much motivation for life or to get better… ppl can recover and live almost normal lives if they have the motivation and determination to get better…

But yes, I know what you mean op, it’s a full time job in and of itself. If you need help, the city and local programs/organizations usually offer help… you can have ppl come in a few times a week to help out sometimes at no charge—physical therapy, speech therapy, cleaning the home, etc

Yes. Both of them.
I massage my old man nightly..he's a toughie and his body looks great for his age but the effects of time.

I'm appreciating them more in their times of need as I step up, and how they did and gave me and my bros and sister everything ❤️

Salute to you for taking care of your Pops!

I'm semi caring for my Mom. It's tough to balance work with helping a parent, but they are worth it!!

I commend anyone who has enough love and compassion to help a parent.

Not all parents have children that are willing to care for them which is unfortunate..

I took care of my mom when she had cancer and sadly passed away from it. Now I'm taking care of my dad who is about to have a triple by pass. He has been living with me rent/bill free since 2016, same as my mom 2010-2013 when she was battling cancer. Family is the only thing important to me.
