so all the songs for my groups tape are done and i was looking into trying to mix and master them...i saw a good youtube video on mastering and i kinda got the hang of it, just learned that it takes time to get all the levels as close to perfect as possible

mixing i havent tried yet...anybody here good with engineering? i would pay somebody to do it but im broke :comeon:

and i heard about dr dre being one of the best mixers ever, how does one come to that conclusion? or what makes his mixes so special?

I know a few sound engineers. that shyt is hard as hell. You gotta have a real good ear and a lot patience (you gotta try a ton of different levels and mixes).

I tried it a few times, and I started to hear things that weren't even there. shyt was maddening :mindblown:

You start to focus on one thing, get obsessed with it and it fukks up everything else.

I dunno how muthafukkas do sound engineering, but :salute:
It's a real under-appreciated job (oh, and you better have amazing monitors if you wanna try engineering)

Mixing aint that hard breh. Jus EQ's and leveling. Its more of a natural thing vs a gained talent.

For mastering. Get your self Isotope Ozone 5 and you'll be good money

@DigitalDopeman Those aren't quite industry quality mixes to me :manny:

You can't really get those for the price of mixtape mixes

you right....its not an industry album mix...the shyt sound good tho....it aint no kanye or jayz mix, but its equal to half the mixes you hear on the radio from new niccas. plus some of the songs were just two track mixes with vocals.its still a good sound, it aint a Ken Lewis mix,but its good.

True....I have worked in studio mastering but I switched careers and haven't looked back...takes lots of patience and long nights but its worth it ...
