I've heard stories about how cheap housing is out there...how true is that? I'd love to see some house listing examples (price, pictures, square ft, etc)

Better question: what's YOUR price range? How much are you willing to spend?

Well..it ain't really for me. My homie is looking for jobs and I've heard houses are mad cheap in areas around the A.

Sub 180,000 houses that are nice. I've heard this a lot over the past few years and I've seen a few pictures of nice houses that were under 200 that would easily go for 3-400 here in Michigan where I'm at. Just wasn't so sure being I've never been out there really to look.

If 180 is his max and he wants to live east of downtown, his shrewdest bet is the Kirkwood, Edgewood, East Lakes area. There's also Reynoldstown and the Old 4th Ward, but they may be a little pricier.

Out west is cheaper, but not as desirable, though you could find decent places in Audobon Forest West. You have to go northwest to Riverside to find the better places, but there's way farther from downtown.

Everything in the south/southwest is dirt fukking cheap, but the quality is questionable. Best bet balance between quality and price there is probably West End. You can get a 3 bed 3 bath there for 125k.

If I were to buy in Atlanta now, West End would definitely be on my list of targets. It's experiencing the same boom as the east side but the prices haven't gotten jacked yet. There are also more black people there if that's important to your friend (I'm white, so it doesn't really matter).

I would say spring for a 200k house it make a world of difference. I got nice 3 bed, 3 bath, recent construction for my grandparents.

How close does he want to be to downtown and does he want to be around a lot of black people? Douglasville is 20 minutes west of the city and has a good mix of people. If you coming from a city up north though that would be considered the country. A young person isnt going to find much to do in the immediate area.

Once you start going south, like south of that is considered the southside (College Park, East Point, etc) then you hit Fayetteville, Newnan, McDonough, and Stockbridge. Now those are some country spots that black folks are just now starting to pop up in, lots of old white people bit the houses have good prices and you get some land with them too. Too many houses now in the A dont come with shyt land wise.

In those areas i named ive seen people get 5 bedroom 3 bathroom homes, +2500 square feet for 150k foreclosed and 190k short sale. Nice ass homes.

But if he coming from out of town he would want to be near the city i guess. Im too old for that life now so thats why im more focused on the outskirts.
