I been doing these the past week and im feelin like a beast after sets. Its been hitting my core legs shoulders like a mf. Im using a 45lb kettlebell but ive seen videos with ppl using 100lb barbells! Anybody else do this exercise?
I've read about it and was really interested, but I heard that it's really easy to get injured doing them.
That can happen with any exercise. THe key is to start with the right weight. The benefits are huge.
Start with no weight to gt your form right
i did em for about 2 months, progressed to 50lb
im not terribly sold on the "whole body" part of it. It just seems to be more one of those hipster kettle bell exercises. As far as function its definitely great for training to lock ur shoulders and brace ur abs tho
Im surpised. I noticed my neck, traps, shoulders, legs & calves are bigger & my butt is harder. Its not a hipster exercise to me at all, im sold on it because i feel stronger.
that all depends on the rest of ur routine
i do powercleans and barbell torques which i feel are better full body moves
i think kettle bell training in general is a fad. They went out of favor for dumbbells years ago for a reason, thus the hipster label. The whole doing it because its edgy and different. The function isnt there to me
Whatever works for your fitness as long as your staying on point.
Kettlebells been around since the 1700s in eastern europe. Maybe u think its a fad since it only recently caught on to the american mainstream, correct me if im wrong. Ive been using them for 5 years along with bodyweight exercise & theyve worked for me on all levels of my fitness.
they werent originally for fitness for one, the were easy to make due to an easy cast in a foundry...dumbbells superseded them as they were more balanced and less clunky and could be used for much more exercises
theyve only recently made a comeback. but as far as function almost any exercise you do with a kettlebell is going to be safer with other equipment outside of maybe swings.
thats the thingThats the interesting part since originally they were used to weigh grains & later adopted for strength & endurance training. The shape of the kettlebell actually forces your body to stabilize the weight aiding in overall balance.
Kettlebell is no more dangerous than a dumbell. Both can cause injury with poor handling & form. More than swings try doing a jerk with a dumbell see where that lands. The momentum of the kettlebell is not something easily replicated with dumbells.
