i just bought an electric violin. i thought it would be a good challenge to learn a new instrument.

i think i may have overestimated myself. its not easy to pick up like the guitar.

just wondering if there are any string players here? violin, viola, cello, bass, etc.

copped this on amazon for 120 bucks with prime. its definitely low quality, but as i progress i plan to invest in a nicer one.

Don't Believe the Hype
Congrats! Ans, yes, a fantastic challenge that's super amazing for your brain.

My advice: Start off by doing everything in 1/4th time (i.e. super slow-mo). Whether it's learning the fingering, how to move the bow, scales, to your first song. Once you pick it up at a slow pace, speed it up a bit.

I'm not a violinist - I don't think I've ever even held a violin - so not sure if this all translates. But it helped me learn other instruments like piano, drums, and trumpet.

Also, consistency is PARAMOUNT! Even if you practice 20 minutes a day - it's better than if you practiced two-hours straight, once a week.

Best of luck!

let me sit right here right quick the violin is my favorite instrument. Might have to go to sleep to Dvorak’s “Romance in F Minor” tonight.:ohlawd:
