Any of you reminded of 01 Pats with this Niner team?

:dwillhuh:

even down to the young QB coming up due to an injured vet. I saw this guy Kaep giving an interview with his cap on, being all humble and stuff, and I was like ... :dwillhuh: "My God, I've seen this before"

Plus the first Pats SB they got won was in NO and it's in NO again this year. They both beat the Saints in the regular season too, although NE beat them in Foxboro.

Only similarity is the QB going down.

I guess you could say both have very good defenses though.

I don't think those Pats teams had the talent that we do on defense/offense though. That Pats D was great due to Beli's scheming

Couple of big time flaws:

1. 9ers were huge favorites even with A. Smith coming into the year. It's been well documented that the Pats were 5-11 in 2000 and to say the expectations for them were low is an understatement.

2. Pats D was greater than the sum of it's parts. 9ers D is full of pro-bowlers.

3. Kaepernick was a second round pick not exactly comparable to a 6th round pick.

4. I'm not so sure that if Bledsoe was out for just a week if Brady would've gotten the shot he did. A. Smith was cleared after a week and got the :birdman:.

while I agree in general we have far more talent on D, citing someone as a pro bowler really doesnt say anything about them

you gotta remember that being a pro bowler a lot of times feeds off popularity and being a part of good defense

like, donte whitner has no business whatsoever being a pro bowler. he wouldnt be voted in if he was still in buffalo

:ehh: Valid. My point was that the 9ers defense as a whole is recognized as formidable and have more talent than those Pats defenses did.

to be fair, again, we only have more talent on D on that front 7. lawyer milloy and ty law were better than any pair of cb/safety we have had imo.

Is this your way of saying the 9ers are destined to win the SB?

There aren't that many similarities between them and 01 pats.

The Steelers aren't chokers,

If the SB comes down to a FG we will lose,

Adam V >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Flabby Akers.
