I was bikkin back with my south african friend and she started tellin me about this festival called the c00n Carnival that they have in Cape Town every new year

In 1862, the then internationally renowned Christy’s Minstrels visited the Cape from the USA and in 1890 Orpheus McAdoo Virginia Jubilee Singers performed in Cape Town. The Christy’s Minstrels where caucasian men and women who had blackened their faces with burnt cork to impersonate the African American slaves. Between July 1890 and June 1898 they staged many minstrel shows in Cape Town and it is believed that this contributed to the birth of the Cape Minstrels and the c00n Carnival.

Afrikaners are of Dutch descent though breh. Minstrel shows are normal behavior there, and Kaapse Klopse has been celebrated by mixed race coloreds in South Africa for a long time now, it's pretty much a tradition.
