Any good alternatives to getting Adobe Dreamweaver?

Not sure if this belongs here or Arcadium....but back in HS...I had some angelfire websites and forums that had decent traffic and did well. Through that i learned basic HTML. I didnt understand the potential these sites had at the time and let them fade away as I got older and busier.

I wanna start a new project....and need to see whats the best method. I have no issue with putting the money down for Dreamweaver if it comes down to it...but I'm trying to see all the alternatives.

There is no best method, it's just what you feel comfortable with, I wouldn't recommend trying to build your own website tho, I would suggest buying a template from the one of the template sites and then modifying the template
