Anyone else graduate with a B.S. in Psychology?

What field/career do you have now?

How did you get your current position?

Interested in seeing how things worked out for those who chose this impractical degree.`

I have a BA in Psychology

biggest waste of money I ever spent :wtb: :snoop:

It sounds interesting to study...and it is. Unfortunately, u need to commit to graduate school and the loans u need to take out for that to get a decent career in it

a BA/BS in Psychology is fukking pointless without a Masters Degree

On top of that, u get all the way through it before u realize if its a career u want to definitely do...and by then, ure already in too deep Omar Epps style

If u know what u want to do with it and are ready to pay 30-40 g's on ure masters (mind u, practicing counselors/therapists normally have PHD's), i guess. But u really need to know where ure going. U can get a masters in Human Resources with a psych degree (which luckily u can branch off into other masters programs with that degree)...but u always need to keep ure head on a swivel with ure projected Salary compared to ure loans u need to pay off. U make 50,000 at a Human Rescources Job sounds decent..but when ure paying $900 a month in loans for 15 years...

I mean on a side note..its better to have a degree than not to have one. U apply for a job against someone who doesnt have a degree...u obviously have the edge

but the problem is, the only jobs that plays for are corny ass jobs no ones wants to work

If i could do it over again, i wouldve learned a trade

Well I had planned on going to graduate school for Pharmacology, but two straight years I was denied. I got on the waiting list for Health Psychology Ph.D, but I was eventually denied.

I took last year off, and now I'm ready to get back on it. This time I want to apply for a Masters in Public Administration. From my research, it's a degree you can do a lot with.

BTW I'm close to 100 racks in student loans. I went out of state for two and a half years, and then went to a local college for 3. Biggest mistake of my life was going out of state :snoop:

I learned the hard way but to all you kids still in school, pick a major with a career lined up for you. fukk taking what you're interested in. What happens is you choose a major that interests you, have a blast during college, and then after you graduate you realize you don't want to do what that major leads to, or even worse your major doesn't lead to anything. Don't take psych unless you plan on getting your doctorate and being a psychologist. Don't take English unless you plan on being a journalist or editor (and even then its probably worthless).

The so called American dream fukked me raw dog just like they did Joe Louis....woulda been better off if I worked at McDonalds or hustled coke after HS instead of pursuing a higher education :sadbron:

I studied Photography for my B.F.A.

Am just now taking the test to become an L-MFT

Which I studied in grad school

As well as I am working on an EDD right now to advice my ability to publish and work with in my field (ie ten year track for colleges etc).

I currently work essentially four jobs , but two by choice

- I run the therapy program for a charter school that focuses on LES students.

-two to three days a week I work at inpatient drug rehab facility in which is a very much CBT based work with little room for straying from what is set in front of you.

- I also work as a boxing blogger and beat writer.

- Prior to these jobs I work at San Quentin , teaching a narrative class as well as working in South San Francisco with K-5 population in the field of dealing with loss.

hope that is useful

If you do not have a strong backing in terms of money - look at jobs such as real estate, accounting and other "need based jobs".

Honestly, you have to make a job for your self, so if you go into debt over school and feel you can not pay it off - get a major that focuses around money since it seems that would make you happier
