any 7 string guitar owners?

im starting a new job that pays better and ive decided to treat myself in the upcoming months to a new guitar. i'd really like to get a 7 or 8 string guitar, but so many of them are just GOOFY looking!

i do appreciate metal music, but i'd never want to play it, which is what this is designed for. i play jazz/blues guitar and i dabble in classical guitar (as a challenge mostly), but i'd look like a damn idiot playing this thing.

does anyone here own any 7/8 string guitars, and if so, can you recommend me one? something classy, not crazy overpriced, but decent and with solid construction.

You can't go wrong with a Schecter... they typically make instruments for metal bands but they have some classy options as well. Look for the Schecter Omen 7 or the Omen Extreme 7. Not too expensive. $500-550

They have the biggest selection of 7-string guitars so you could just search for Schecter 7-string.

yes seems like schecter and ibanez are the most popular options. i do like the ibanez artcore. this would be perfect with two extra strings

I prefer Schecter over Ibanez because Ibanez uses those cheap barrel jacks. Also, low-end $$ Schecters are higher quality than low-end Ibanez in my experience

Go for the Schecters, the cheaper ones are around $500. No other brand is making quality 7-strings at that price.
