Antonio Inoki was WWF Champion? Why wasn’t it acknowledged?

There's a article covering it. To be fair, Vince treated the WWE before 84 like an afterthought. It never happened.

Gifting world title wins to Japanese promoters/stars so they could boast about it locally happened a couple of times. The U.S promotion would just ignore it or claim it wasn't a valid win due to fukkery/controversy/interference. It was much easier to pull it off in the 70's and early 80's, it showed goodwill between promotions and gave you political points with key people.

Moolah and Backlund lost their titles a few timed during their reigns too. Its just something Vince did. Maybe theyll acknowledge Flair's other wins too now that La Nariz is in charge

Yeah Naitch is like a 21-25 time champ I dont feel like googling the shyt right now but its way more than 16

I believe one of the OG black wrestlers won the title (i'm probably thinking NWA) at like a house show before. I believe someone like Carlos Colon was an unofficial NWA champion too because of some Puerto Rico house show tours back in the day.

edit: it was Jack Veneno in the DR

Pretty sure Carlos Colon won all the World titles every time a champ visited Puerto Rico. Ric Flair dropped the belt for sure but they never count and Flair had the belt back on tv after the weekend. Just common to do back then.

I almost forgot WWE existed before he bought everyone.

Andre was the main man right? And he just was loaned out to different territories...from what I remember reading

Sidenote: was Gorgeous George in the WWF?

Sort of a mixture of Bruno and then Andre before Vince Jr took over.

As far as George being in the WWF. He was more NWA/territory than WWF.
