To be honest, not being typical is key to hip-hop, so in some ways, those images are very hip-hop.

quite right but hiphop had always had masculinity, this has always been vital.

check Jay's balled up right fist on the poor kid, smh :what:

+ I'm laughing that dude from OF flopped he catered his whole sh1t to white heads, see his LP cover. SMH.

Masculinity is subjective though and relative to the times. Dressing like a dandy is pretty cool in 2012, apparently in any genre nowadays, from rock to pop to hip-hop :scusthov:

I don't like these current group of twinks either, but it's because they can't rap.

There is always some Joe College who thinks hiphop getting on in the late 70s/80s can compare to today.

Hiphop to get on had to present themselves as musicians and everyone was on that spaced out punk rock bowie newromantic sh1t, you had to getting funktified ... and this was the case till run-dmc came through and started dressing like the hustlers.

This is common hiphop knowledge.

+ ill first pic tho.

The fact that rappers wanted to be streets dudes, dress like street dudes and on is another story. So if we gonna keep it trill, how people like Eric B and Rakim or Biggie and people dressing like drug dealers were dressing is unhiphop but it looks flyer. Or if your brain can handle it, hiphop has individual styles, loads of them. Few shyts doesn't get pass's like super super skinny jeans but Cam rocking pink fur was hiphop as fukk, kanye having dancers like they used to have but switching them up is hiphop as fukk.
