They've had some good rotational pieces throughout the years tbh. Just completely whiffed on having the star level dudes
There’s a universe where they take Tyrese Haliburton (in his own words, the Wizards called him saying they’d take him) and they don’t take Johnny Davis.

The current rebuild would be in a good spot

Still such a rough pick. A guy that wasn't the most explosive athlete, had a pretty clearly defined ceiling, leaned on very tough shots as his source for points, etc. That being said, alot of the guys that came after appear to slot as rotational guys or plug and play now for playoff contenders. Jalen Williams is so far the only name that screams superstar

Thats what happens when you trash and consistently trying to rebuild. You trade the few assets you have to contenders.

Tommy Sheppard and Ernie Grunfeld were trying to win. They were shid at building a winning team.

The new front office that came in 2023 is rebuilding.

The last rebuild was right after Gilbert Arenas brought guns into the locker room, and John Wall was drafted number one overall in 2010.

Wizards have always had great role players and 3rd to 5th options. Those players were all crucial to those titles too in a big role in they rotation.

Even this Wiz squad has 2 proven champions in Kuzma and Poole who were top 5 players on a championship team. Deni and Tyus both could easily be in the top 7-8 rotation of a championship team.... But they problem is they don't have a legit 1st or 2nd option in DC. They always been had pieces but when you got a bunch of 4th to 8th options even if they solid the ceiling is still low since they dont got THAT nikka or 2nd one

And in the case of Kuzma and Poole they will be Championship pieces again on other teams. because the Wizards will always be an unserious organization.
