Anime question (mecha)

Does anyone watch mecha animes..I know it's supposed to be an intrinsic part of anime/japanese culture, but I could never get into it...I've never watched gundam, not too much macross, some code geass etc.. I thought neon genesis was ok, not that I disliked the mecha, but the story overall..there's so much mecha merchandise as far as magazines and books , I just don't understand it..I know anime is an underground culture, but it seems like mecha is a sub culture of anime to me..idgi

Did you watch all of Code geass?

I only watched about 7 episodes awhile back..it reminds me of death note with all the sneaky conniving..it was good, I'll have to rewatch all the episodes and more..but I'm talking about the mecha culture in general..they prob have 100s of real mecha animes like gundam with giant robot fighters that ill never watch..if you've ever been to a Japanese book store you'll see that they have hobby magazines on toy model mecha..as Otakus it's our dream to visit Japan, and Japan is a strange weird land and mecha is part of that..hmmm..just seems weird to me..I dunno
