Khan Gives Pacquiao Fight 'One More Week' To Get Done

British star Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs) is going to wait one more week for a deal to get reached for a clash with Manny Pacquiao in early 2016.

If the two sides are unable to reach an agreement in a week's time, Khan will move forward with his plans to return on a date in December.

Khan wants to avoid his past mistakes, where he wasted a lot of time sitting around with a false hope of landing a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. That fight never came and Khan's activity level has suffered for the past few years.

A few days ago, Khan became frustrated with the negotiations dragging out a little longer than expected and announced he was walking away from the discussions.

Khan told The National: "I'm really disappointed in Manny and his team. They aren't playing ball. All that was left to do is to sign the contract. But they are stalling. I have pulled out of the negotiations. I am no longer fighting Manny Pacquiao."

"They know I am a tricky fight for him and they know I will beat him. Or else, why pull out of a fight when there is a lot of money on the table? I don't really know if Mayweather is fighting Pacquiao again. It is a possible reason for him to stall on signing the contract, but I don't really know."

Then Pacquiao's promoter, Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, responded to Khan's comments and denied the existence of a contract.

“Nobody can figure out why [Khan] is saying that. I’ve spoken to his attorney, Robert Davis, and we’re going back and forth on the numbers,” Arum said to the Los Angeles Times. “The kid [Khan] talks too much. It’s probably why he lost the Mayweather fight. If there’s no contract to sign, who’s stalling who?”

Khan has read what Arum had to say and says he will stick around for another week to see if both sides can get a deal hammered out.

"Very well, this is what Arum says. I know that the negotiations are there. We are going to wait a week to see how things go, and if not - then we'll pass [on the fight]," Khan told ESPN Deportes.

This dude's a clown to the utmost degree :dahell:

Khan told the paper: "I'm really disappointed in Manny and his team. They aren't playing ball. All that was left to do is to sign the contract. But they are stalling. I have pulled out of the negotiations. I am no longer fighting Manny Pacquiao."

Khan would give Manny and Floyd problems, thats for sure.

But more than any other fighter because of his past, one loss to a fellow contender will probably mess up his career. If he loses to Floyd or Manny, he would be expected to lose, so there's not that much damage to his career. So it's worth waiting it out.
