Khan To Mayweather: I'm Bigger Than Maidana, Ortiz!
Posted by: Chisanga Malata on 12/18/2014

AMIR KHAN has hit out at pound-for-pound boxing king Floyd Mayweather.

Khan, 28, is vying for a crack at the undisputed welterweight king following his unanimous decision victory over Devon Alexander in Las Vegas last Saturday.

Howwver, Mayweather, who boasts a record of 47 victories and no losses, has his eyes set on a super-fight with Manny Pacquiao in May, and believes that a bout against Khan wouldn't pull in the numbers as 'no one knows who Amir Khan is'.

But King Khan has laughed off Mayweather's claim, and has insisted the WBC and WBA champions is running scared of him.

He said: "I want the fight, but is Floyd going to take the fight? Is Floyd going to give me that chance? That's something we're all waiting to hear from Floyd Mayweather.

"I've been asking for the fight for the last two or three years. Now he needs to come back to the press and say, 'I want the fight with Amir Khan'.

"I know I'm touching distance away from that super fight. I think I've proven myself many times and I think this time I've proved myself in the biggest way so he has to take the fight. What else do I have to do?

"I have a bigger name than (Marcos) Maidana did or Victor Ortiz. I'm one of the biggest names in boxing.

"I know if I can bring Floyd Mayweather to Britain then I'll sell out Wembley Stadium. How big does he need my name to be?"

"I think these are little excuses. I'm sure people realise that. It seems to me he doesn't want to fight me. I have the speed, dexterity, accuracy, movement, power; I think it's something that he doesn't really want to mix with."

AMIR KHAN TO FLOYD MAYWEATHER: "COME TO ENGLAND, I'LL SHOW YOU HOW BIG I AM"
By Ben Thompson | December 18, 2014

amirkhan3.jpg

"What I bring to the table is huge. I bring countries to the table, being a Muslim, being a Pakistani, having a huge fan base in India where they've got a billion people living there. Pakistan is half a billion. You've got England. Floyd said I'm not big enough. I'm a bigger name than Maidana. I'm a bigger name than Victor Ortiz and Guerrero," stated former jr. welterweight champion Amir Khan, who took offense to recent comments made by undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather suggesting that he's not a big enough name to fight him. According to Khan, that couldn't be further from the truth.

"I mean, fine, maybe I'm not on the same level and maybe he's a little bit bigger than me, Canelo, I agree with you, but other than that, I'm bigger than all of the fighters he's fought. On top of that, I've beaten Maidana as well. And then, if Mayweather wants to be a global star, he has to fight someone who has a big following in other countries, like myself like in Pakistan and India," Khan explained during a recent conversation with FightHype.com. "But if Floyd still says I'm not a big name, I promise Floyd one thing. Come to England, I'll show you how big I am. Come to England, I'll sell out the Wembley Stadium fighting you. That's 100% guarantee. I think that answers his question how popular Amir Khan is."

Khan: Mayweather is Running Scared, More Excuses!
Posted by: Boxing Clever on 12/18/2014

Amir Khan has taunted Floyd Mayweather, warning: fight me in May or lose your credibility.

Bolton's rejuvenated welterweight has renewed his attempts to land a fight with boxing's pound-for-pound king since enhancing his credentials with a thorough dismantling of former two-weight world champion Devon Alexander in Las Vegas.

But Mayweather, who opted to fight Marcos Maidana in May rather than take on Khan, has so far refused to bite and is instead aggressively pursuing a grudge match with long-time rival Manny Pacquiao which for years seemed destined never to happen.

Mayweather even claimed on Wednesday: "No one knows who Amir Khan is", but Khan is adamant he is the last man standing who can give the unbeaten American a decent fight.

"Who's he going to fight next?" Khan said on Sky Sports News HQ. "If he really wants to fight in May he has to fight someone who's going to be decent and give him a tough fight. I think out there in the boxing world there's only myself left.

"I'm just going to leave everything with my team, but I really want the fight and I think Floyd is running scared now. He's looking for any excuse not to get the fight.

"I'm a bigger name than Marcos Maidana, who he fought twice. He's always coming up with excuses - his new excuse is 'Amir's not a big enough name' - is he going to take the fight or not?

"I think we've got him cornered in a way because after that good performance against Devon Alexander I don't think he has anywhere to go."

Khan's second choice is Pacquiao - a former gym-mate during his time with Freddie Roach - and he says a huge all-British fight with WBA champion Kell Brook will have to wait.

"I think I'll let Kell build his career up a little bit more. At the moment I'm focusing on the elite fighters."

Did this dude just end his rant on Floyd Mayweather by using Floyd's reason for not fighting HIM....as the same type of reason he's not fighting Kell Brook (letting Brook build himself up more. Focusing on elite fighters)?:dahell:

I think anyone with power can beat Khan.. His flurries look like slaps.. Garcia walked right through them and knocked his ass out easy. Floyd not knocking people out in years seems like Khan could out point him but i still see it as a easy fight for Floyd.

His just proved Floyd's point. Mayweather is selling out Wembley, not you.

Khan is right :yeshrug:

no he's not

he fails to mention he fought maidana at 140 not 147, maidana has 3 KO wins at 147 plus he won a belt from Broner,
maidana didn't just come up in weight and get a fight with floyd simply he because he was there
maidana earned it from performance, winning a fight he was suppose to lose

he's only had two fights at 147 so far, if he would've fought Thurman an undefeated fighter, instead of Alexander and won, not only would he had eliminated floyd's other mandatory, but he would have made a statement. Broner accomplished more at 147 than Kahn did, and so has Maidana

Floyd needs to finish pac man off, and if Kahn and beat Kell Brook or Thurman then he can get his inevitable ass whipping too

Amir Khan needs to understand that nobody but his mama cares about Amir Khan...

You can't call another man a coward for not committing to fighting you when you deliberately ducking another strap holder...

If he really wants to sellout Wembley so bad all he has to do is fight Kell Brook...We all know why he don't want that fight though...:sas2:
