My friend saw the rough cut last summer, said it's dope.

At dinner in Brooklyn I am out in NY on vacation, my friend, who I've been friends with since 5, like pictures of us as children, sleepovers and toys, says what are you doing Friday?

I'm flying to Miami in the morning, checking into the Edition for a few days.

Oh, too bad, Doug and I are taking his yacht out Friday..

lol come on man.

Saw it today. It's alright. It just feels like it constantly hangs on the edge of getting really good but then it never does. Cruise carries the shyt on his back like usual, I don't know how the hell he can be such an effortless movie star. Movie would've worked better if they treated it more seriously. It felt like they tried to go for a Wolf Of Wall Street-ish vibe, but instead of letting the fukkery sell itself it just came across as if they tried too hard to remind you that "all this stuff you're seeing is totally crazy, right guys?"

Friend saw the rough cut last summer, when the working title was Mena. He liked it, but he's biased on this, I thought the previews were predictable and cliche, and I am just weary of these types of movies, with no real emotional center, just kind of lifestyle porn, and "isn't this crazy"??? exactly what Godling is saying.

They mythologize these people, and construct a reality where there are no real consequences for their actions, in this kind of increasingly irritating type of movie, and tv show. It's all swagger and no heart, all good looks and charm. I don't even really want to see this, I remember reading all about scumbag Barry Seal in George Jung's book in high school. Glad he was executed in New Orleans for being an informer, so I hope they don't miss that part.
