When Amber Rose said "I Do" to Wiz Khalifa, one important thing was missing. A majority of her family wasn't in attendance.
It certainly wasn't because they weren't invited or welcomed. Instead, the reason behind their absence may be because of their views on African Americans.
In a personal new interview for the Oprah Winfrey Network, the supermodel shared personal stories of colorism by her family that ultimately affected her special wedding day.
"With my family, they feel like they're more superior or better than an African American because we're Creole and we have culture and that's something I battle with most of my life," she explained in a sneak peek of Light Girls airing Monday night. "It's more of the older people in my family."
Rose goes on to infer that some of her family didn't attend her wedding because she married an African American. To this day, that reality still upsets her tremendously.
"It's such a sensitive subject that it's hard to explain yourself without sounding mean or bitter or angry, but I am," she shared. "I'm angry that my family is like that and they want to pass so bad that they raise my mom and my uncles and my aunts to not fully know their culture."
She added, "Our younger generation, we've embraced it so much and I feel like that's why my father is white."Hear more honest and candid confessions from Rose, Sheree Fletcher and other stars in Light Girls premiering Monday at 9 p.m. EST only on OWN.

honestly, this shyt ain't the least bit shockin'

people think just because it ain't 1964 anymore that racism don't exist. well, i got news for you, it does

ain't a damn thing change

but amber is a smart woman and has a mind of her own. she stood up for what she believed in and married wiz anyway (even though the marriage ain't work out)
