Amazon.com CEO Jeff Bezos said on the CBS TV news show 60 Minutes Sunday that the world's largest Internet retailer is testing delivering packages using drones.

The idea would be to deliver packages as quickly as possible using the small, unmanned aircraft, the CEO said. Check out the video here.

The interview, with Charlie Rose, came just before the most important online shopping day of the year, Cyber Monday.

This is a crucial period for Amazon, but this year the world's largest Internet retailer's holiday push has been tarnished by strikes in Germany and a BBC report questioning working conditions in the company's U.K. warehouses.

This seems like a good idea if they can pull it off. Hope there are no malfunctions that kill children/women.

FAA would never allow these things in the sky. It would be dope as fukk though. How are you going to allocate that kind of air space in order to actually do this? You would need a huge infrastructure that could support all of these wireless drones on varying flight plans.

The potential for terror attacks and hacking is just :ohlawd:

most of the cost would have to be in security. Plus would it be illegal to shoot one out the sky for the fukk of it?

Besos remarked that he expects to have FAA clearance by 2015, intimating that the paperwork was already submitted and it was a fait accompli

So in decades the US Sky will be full of drones ? It will be far much easier to have surveillance drones this way and people will complain but they'll reply "you already have delivery drones, is it bad ?"
I'm not really feeling the future.
