SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 13, 2017-- (NASDAQ: AMZN)—Amazon today announced it has acquired the global television rights to The Lord of the Rings, based on the celebrated fantasy novels by J.R.R. :yeshrug: eh pass. The movies delved into the stories quite a bit and those are long enough. I can't imagine a long multi season series being anything but torturous to a point, especially if this prequel is going to draw from The Silmarillion which was after the hobbit

I'm indifferent to the LOTR movies. They are good, but I've seen the LOTR trilogy twice, the Hobbit series once and don't care to ever revisit them. Still, break this universe down to a 8-12 episodes at one hour a piece, and this could be very good. This is Amazon's big chance.

So many dope stories to tell from the first/second age.

Morgoth, the Noldori, Beren and Luthien, Fall of Gondolin, Sauron, Feanor and his sons, the Silmarils, Ungoliant, Turin, Earendil, the Numenoreans etc.

Watch them do a young Aragon/Legolas series tho.

I'm all for any Middle Earth fukkery :blessed:

I been looking for a new series to invest time in. My favorite all time is EASILY ASOIF, all the world building, all the companion pieces, everything. Have you read ASOIF? If so, compare them, please

Haven’t ready any of the ASOIF books other than “The World of Ice and Fire” . Watched the show and have done extensive YouTubing looking up the history of the world of ASOIF. However , from what I gather so far the WOT series is very similar. A chosen one prophecy fuels its overall narrative like ASOIF, and it’s defintely a great fantasy read. Magic( The One Power they call it ) is a huge part of the story. Men can’t use it and are pretty much forbidden to use it when they show the ability, only women can use it and practice using it(There is a reason for that ) .In the upcoming show I can see them either going a super dark route or extremely “kid friendly”. Just depends on who the show runner is targeting. There are a lot of “Dark” moments so far . If you like ASOIF you will definitely like the WOT series, at least I have so far. I’m only on the 3rd book and there is like 13 of them . The world building is great. They speak about past legends, past kingdoms , history of the different nations. Parts of the world is still undiscovered .It’s actually a lot like GOT/ASOIF now that I think of it , so there is a lot of meat on the bone for the upcoming show to explore.
