Amash amendment goes down 205-217

Didn't think it had a chance in hell but the vote was closer than I thought.

It would have completely de-funded the NSA's metadata collection. It wouldn't have stood a chance in hell in the Senate though.

No surprise that the White House released a statement condemning the Amendment. The real surprise came with Michelle Bachman's resounding speech in support of Obama and the policies and actions of the executive branch.

Disappointing, but at least it was a really close vote, and one that cut across partisan lines. Hopefully, it'll send a signal to the White House and everyone who supports the NSA data collection that this can't continue as it does in its current form.

Slight aside, but I should email my congressman and thank him for voting for the amendment
