Once I got into my Mid-Twenties, the whole 'root' for your team, civic/team pride shyt kinda went out the window a little...

If im not betting on a game, I dont think I have that much interest.

ill bet on every football game 1st quarter, second quarter, first to 7, spread, money line, teaser betrs and just sit and watch all day sat n sunday

That's me except in a few cases to be completely honest.

To the point where I purposely don't bet on important events (like the Euros, World Cup) in order to not root for something that would be absolutely meaningless to either team, or either country. I usually just bet on the Overs for a nice entertaining game, but I didn't find myself sweating over these (except on one occasion) because I wanted to enjoy the competition.

I really couldn't care less about basketball, most baseball games, most hockey games, most tennis tournaments. They aren't something I would see for the "love of the game" , but I can bet on it, and be extremely into it all of a sudden.

I was never into the whole "we" thing from the start, so this wasn't something I ever thought about like that. It's more about enjoying sporting events at this point for me. Only team I'll ever WE for is Team USA and possibly the Red Bulls, because I'm a part of the supporters group. Something to do and a way to represent soccer in America, not cause I'm truly in love with the team though.

But any MLS, EPL, International Soccer, Giants football, playoff games, I will watch for the love of the game, at least I still have that.

appreciate the sport because you love it not because you personally put something on it. if you cant sit down and be interested in 2 teams playing unless you bet on it i wouldn't really consider you a fan of the sport. youre a fan of gambling.

I dont know why youre asking me that, I dont know what a 'real fan' means. its all subjective

its just weird to me people need incentive like storylines and betting to keep their interest in sports...it used to be zero storylines and zero gambling...Id be a little kid, walk by a pickup game and just watch for like an hour for the fukk of it

now people have HD tvs, beautiful commentary, world class athletes who seem to get more athletic with each year...and people are struggling to keep interest without outside incentives.

to me sports was all about sports. the combination of a competition, teamwork skills and athleticism all in one...
