Bale is one of my favorite actors and the best live action version of Batman imo, but when I saw this news I was like;

I mean I was going to watch it anyway, it's gonna make bank anyway :yeshrug:

Sure they got a oscar winner, but this is a MCU movie, it's not like it's gonna test his acting range or anything like that :manny:

And if he's playing Beta Ray Bill he's gonna voice a CGI model or stuntman, essentially he's gonna show up say some shyt leave :unimpressed:

As a whole star power in these huge franchises doesn't mean anything to me anymore, which is why I didn't fuss about who they cast as Storm and Batman like everyone else here did, as long as who they cast don't give a Jared Leto performance it's all good:ld:

If their acting style personifies the character, then it's satisfying to watch.

Most big names don't need an introduction, so it's easier to promote and advertise.

There are probably 10 perfect lessor known actors for a gig for every 1 A lister.

It's just business.

I remember I read about Hollywood still cast A-Listers not because of star power but because they have access to the press (Talk shows, interviews) that unknowns don't.

And I'm not upset that they got a A-Lister for this role, I'm saying it doesn't matter to me if it was a A-Lister or a guy off the street like what they did with Aladdin.

I'm a lifelong comicbook fan, and i'm extra about visuals, so if a character's visuals + aura don't embody the character it reduces my enjoyment of the work.

So i pay attention to the castings. But of late I care less cause I realize the visionaries of these flicks may have a diff. bottom line. If I feel different, I might as well make my own shyt :yeshrug:

It depends on the movie and the role.

I'm praying that's the least cliche thing I say this year:francis:

While I agree, for the most part, about your point in this specific case, the MCU would've been dead on arrival if not for the casting of RDJ. That said, no one cared about his casting at the time:manny:I know Tom Hardy's casting as Eddie Brock is what made Venom a film I wanted to see, and he ended up being the strongest part of the movie. Joaquin Phoenix taking the Joker role made that movie a huge topic. We've also seen a bunch of talented actors and actresses essentially wasted/be forgettable in these roles as well:manny:

Actors act....

A big name or an unknown doesnt move me eirher way....i have usually decided if a film is worth my interest based on other factors outside of who plays the lead characters

Casting is a huge deal for any movie but definitely comics or book adaptations. You’ve got to get someone who embodies the spirit of the character but can do enough to make it their own. Like @obarth said, casting Downey as Tony made all the difference in the world. Every movie from that studio flows from the prism of tony stark. shyt it’s why I gave doc strange the side eye because it felt like they gave him the same arc as tony and the same basic personality.

Imagine Tom Cruise in that role and how different the movies that followed would’ve been.

Not at this point because there’s so many super hero movies. It’s either okay casting or bad...
