He kept to himself a lot,' Harold Hanlon told the Sun Journal, but 'he'd do anything for you.'
Lance Brown, another of Martinez's neighbors, told the Sun Journal that every time he ran into Martinez he always asked 'How ya doing, neighbor?' and 'Can I help you in some way?'
Brown said that when he broke his leg, Martinez cooked meals for him and sent pizza to the hobbled neighbor.
'You couldn't have asked for a better neighbor,' Brown said.
