In Havana, motorists on Friday tried to navigate the city where no street lights appeared to be working and only a handful of police were directing traffic. Generators are a luxury for most Cubans and only a few could be heard running in the city.

The country’s health minister, José Angel Portal Miranda, said on X that the country’s health facilities were running on generators and health workers continued to provide vital services.

This week, Cuba’s increasingly energy-strapped government called for draconian measures to save power, including telling many workers to stay home.

Classes at schools were canceled from Friday through the weekend, nightclubs and recreation centers were ordered closed, and only “indispensable workers” should show up at their jobs, according to a list of energy-saving measures published by the state-run website Cubadebate earlier on Friday.

Millions of people on the communist-run island have been left without power over the last several days as the aging Cuban electrical grid repeatedly collapsed.

Why you feel like this might be true?

I mean cause Cuba has the misfortune of being an enemy of the worlds strongest country, while also being 90 miles away and having a literal country bumpkin retard for president right now. Like I'll keep it real 100 percent, yea Fidel killed alot of opps and did dictator things but he managed to keep the country somewhat running normally for 45-50 years, under pressure... since he died the new generation leaders are completely incompetent while being absolutely blood thirsty with protesters

The Cuban government runs this play all the time, they let shyt get real bad to a certain degree... People run out and protest in the street or online.. they do a head count of those protesters and they either a) arrest them b) put major pressure on them to leave the country, get them fired, put citizen sanctions on them, arrest their family members or c) send them to the gulag in the mountains

And after that they have a quiet, docile populace until the next major crisis... rinse and repeat

Its just how it goes, I dont even care if they wanna stay communist or not over there I just need the secret police/gulag shyt to stop bro its 2024

Plus I dont know how this happened when Ive seen literally with my own 2 eyes Chinese, Turkish AND Russian power plants, just in Havana
