I've been meaning to make this thread for ages... :patrice:

So, I don't drink that often and when I do, I don't drink that much. The most I'll have is 2 beers or 2-3 shots and a beer one day a week when I go out with friends. I'm not really cutting and I eat pretty clean year-round. I never let it affect my workout days but I've been looking for research on how alcohol affects your gains.

Some claim that it inhibits your protein synthesis and others say that it lowers your test. Others say that those claims are myths and if they do, it's not by a significant enough margin to matter. They say that it only matters if you're drinking heavily on a consistent basis.

...then, I checked this out. :ohhh:

What do you guys say? What have you heard? What do you believe? :ld:

I've been chilling out...I'm a binge drinker. Most I'll have is like 5 or 6 drinks on a Fri or Sat night. Then I'll chug a bunch of water and have a protein shake..then pray to god for my demonic habits. :wow:

Don't drink alcohol if you want gains in the gym. I mean "real" gains, not gains cause you aint been there for a while or aint been on a consistent schedule. If you do drink, make it only on Saturday.

M = weight lifting

W = weight lifting

F = weight lifting

Sat. = drink

Sunday = water restoration stage

Monday [night] = weight lifting

Guy just talked about hangovers. Nothing to do with training at all. Even if I have a horrible hangover the next day, i'll still hit the gym.

That being said, these past 8 months, i've been drinking 4/5 times a week and training for the same amount of time too. But the most recent two months, I haven't drunk and I've seen more gains in those two months than I did in the whole 8 months before.

I'm an avid runner (20+ miles a week) and I don't have a problem with having a drink or two a day. It just depends on what you're drinking. I don't do cheap booze and I don't get fukked up either. Just in moderation. Its actually good for you to do so if you're a runner. Just don't get crazy. I haven't been hungover though in nearly five years.

Soda on the other hand :whoa:

I usually drink a lil somethin 2 - 3 times a week. Saturdays I wake up with a hangover. Been gaining fine for over a year and a half.

Biggest issues

1.What you drink - stay away from beers & wines breh. Mad empty calories there. Stick to the spirits. Either straight (shots/on ice) or with diet soda. I normally don't drink diet soda but it's okay on a night out imo.

2. What you eat after a night out - that's the biggest problem. 3am and your hungry. Just say no and go to bed homey.

3. What you eat on that hangover - stick to the script
