We all knew once he got pulled for Tua last season that Saban wasnt reversing course. He should've saw that too and understood if he wanted to progress he should've left. Instead, he lost a year sitting on the bench and lost very very valuable time learning a new system. If he transferred before this season and still sat on the bench he still would've been learning the new system and gaining chemistry with his teammates/new coaching staff.

For example, I understood the defensive scheme my freshman year. I knew it in and out, but knowing it in theory and having it playing out in real time on the field while also understanding how my teammates understand the scheme made me infinitely better the next year. No analysts ever go into how important it is to understand the tendencies of your own teammates within the context of a game/scheme. As a specific example, I had a teammate who would always bite on play action pass when the games were close/intense. It was just his way. Still don't know why. For me, that meant I knew if no one was immediately pressing me that I could slide over to back him up when they tried to slide a TE behind the space he vacated. Knowing your teammates is important. He lost the time to learn them and it takes at least a season.
