Akinnuoye-Agbaje To Play Thor's 'Kurse'
By Garth Franklin Wednesday August 22nd 2012 11:13PM
"Lost" and "G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra" star Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is set to play the secondary villain in the Alan Taylor-directed upcoming sequel "Thor: The Dark World" at Marvel Studios and Disney says Variety.
Christopher Eccleston stars as the primary villain Malekith the Accursed, the ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim.
Agbaje will play Algrim the Strong the most powerful of the Dark Elves who was coerced by Malekith into fighting Thor. Malekith tries to kill them both and while Thor escapes, Algrim falls into lava presumed dead.
Thanks to some enchanted armor though, a now amnesiac Algrim has survived. With his armour now fused to his skin, he becomes a powerful being called Kurse who is twice as strong as Thor.
Shooting on the sequel is taking place in London.

By Garth Franklin Monday August 20th 2012 10:20AM
Anna Kendrick, Imogen Poots and Felicity Jones have emerged as the current front-runners to play the female lead in the upcoming superhero sequel "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" says The New York Post.
Joe and Anthony Russo are directing the follow-up to 2011's 'First Avenger' launch film in the series. This chapter sees the return of Sebastian Stan's previously thought dead Bucky Barnes - this time in the form of the villain 'Winter Soldier'. Anthony Mackie recently joined the cast as well.
Kendrick is the most well-known of the trio thanks to high profile roles in "Up in the Air," "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," "50/50" and "Twilight".
Poots is quickly making a name for herself with roles in the likes of "Fright Night," "Jane Eyre," "28 Weeks Later" and "V for Vendetta".
Felicity Jones won a Special Jury Prize at Sundance last year for "Like Crazy" and has also had roles in "Hysteria," "The Tempest," "Chalet Girl," "Brideshead Revisited" and "Cemetery Junction".
Details of the role itself are unknown, though in the comic storyline Peggy Carter's niece Sharon was a key role.
