Police respond to a shooting on Fayetteville Street in Durham.
DURHAM, N.C. -
Police are investigating a shooting Monday on Fayetteville Street near North Carolina Central University.
The Durham Police Department said a man was walking on the sidewalk in the 2500 block of Fayetteville Street when he was shot Monday around 12:24 p.m. The shots were fired from a gray car, police said.
Police said the victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries. An officer on scene said the man was shot in his leg and is being treated at Duke Hospital. The victim's name has not been released.
Police said charges have not been filed. It was not clear if a suspect is in custody.
