In 2001, Jennifer Lopez and Ja Rule released their hit "I'm Real (Remix)" that had an entire generation collectively singing along to the smooth collaboration.
Now -- after Jezebel writer Jia Tolentino published an eye-opening, mind-blowing article about J.Lo's opening line -- everyone is reevaluating their lives after realizing they have been singing the wrong lyric this entire time.
If you thought Jenny From the Block was singing "are you Ellie?" or poorly enunciating "are you ready?" -- you are very, very wrong.
Right before J.Lo chimes in, Ja Rule asks, "What's my motherf**kin' name?" to which the pop diva responds by singing, "R-U-L-E." Basically, she was spelling out his name and answering his question, which went over a lot of people's heads 15 years ago.
Mind. Blown.
