Rich areas are overwhelming democrat, and poorer areas, if white, are overwhleming republican. I see the all the voter information when I walk house to house.

Even poor areas with asians and hispanics tend to be more conservative. There's resistence to the Republican brand name because of the racism assiociated with it.

I grew up in California's lowest income area (the 209), and it is highly conservative. I've dubbed it "the Red Valley".

I think it's because people who grew up poor and had to work for a living(like me) have a respect for hard work, saving and displine. There is less sympathy for those less fortunate because we've all been there, and we got out with our own devices.

Rich people never really have to work, and they realize that "the poor"
are "over there" in some far away land that is noticeably less pretty and prestigious than their own neighborhood. They feel guilty for growing up rich and living a better life.

That's my theory. Maybe poor people are less inteligent, and therefor, more conservative because low intelligence means more conservative.

I've gone through 100's of pages of registered Voters. I and other volunteers have knocked at a total of 30,000 houses approx. theres 14 of us ,so we really worked hard.

and nationally the poorest states are also the most conservative.

A state democrat senator was endorsed by the republicans, and we hooked with his team to help out on saturday. They noticed the same thing.

We usually go in groups. sometimes, it's just me and the canidate. We split ways and i handle people with an 80% ballot turn-out and he handles people with a 100% turnout. I'll be deep into democrat territory by myself. fukk it, i don't give

I did voter registration for about a year leading up to the Kerry/Bush election. Some people were cool, some people were rude and some people were just totally oblivious to what was going on in the world around them.
It is pretty illuminating.

I did phone banking and door-knocking for Obama in 08. It was a fun experience. Hearing average folks political opinions can be interesting. The Repubs would often get salty.

The area I live in is mostly yuppie suburban white, so I was mostly in pretty well-to-do neighborhoods. I could tell most of them were scared to go this low income apartment complex where Domino's and Pizza Hut don't deliver after dark, so I volunteered early and worked the entire place. A lot of flirtatious single mothers giving me googly eyes. If I wasn't a faithful husband, I could've ran through mad hood p*ssy.
